About this course
The Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf course is India’s first Nicklaus design championship course & also has the distinction of being India’s longest golf course on the plains as it streches to a massive 7425 yards from the Black Tees.
The course has a inland links style feel to it with severe contouring, plenty of water in play, massive bunkering in all shapes & sizes, greens that are slick, true & sometimes severe with the slopes and contours. It’s a course which will get you the first time, will enthrall you when you play the second time & then get you addicted as you slowly see the subtelities that have gone into designing each hole.
A project of the Navratna group- the Kalhaar Blues & Green is a realty project with a championship golf course. The project is built over almost 500 acres & has 801 villas. The golf course is a championship 18 hole, 7425 yard, Par 72 layout designed by Nicklaus Design. It is incidentally the TOUGHEST course in the country with a course & slope rating of 76.8 & 142. That means a scratch golfer from the back tees will play 4.8 over the course (76.8-72).
The Kalhaar Blues & Greens golf course complies to United States Golf Association (USGA) specifications and the objective has been to build an exclusive and world class golf layout. The course is spread over 175 acres & has four distinct sets of tees ranging from 5365 yards to 7425 yards .
FACTS & TRIVIA:
- The shortest Par 4 on this course has a 399 yardage !!
- The longest Par 4 on this course is a 525 yard, Par 4 which is also incidentally the longest Par 4 in India. This Par 4 is the toughest hole on the course
- The layout also has a scenic Island green. Its the 7th hole which is a 174 yard, Par 3 layout & a scorecard spoiler when the wind is up
- The green at the 399 yard, Par 4,13th hole is a different kind of island green. Called a beach green sometimes its ringed completely by SAND which is both bunker & beach styled.
The layout offers unique challenges and aesthetics, such as a sand and beach bunkers, 14 bodies of water that cover over 35 acres, massively undulating fairways & greens. The greens will test your putting skills as they have very severe undulations & require very careful consideration. An impressive clubhouse, 100 key plus hotel, other sporting facilities, a spa are in the pipeline & will complete the picture while complementing the golf course. The course has been designed to be a cart course & green fees here include a shared cart & caddy.
Contouring across this rolling layout ranges from 1 to 5 meters & in line with being a best of its class design it features a state-of-the-art, computerized irrigation system. The entire golf course has been sand-capped to enable one of the finest water harvesting and drainage systems to drain rainwater and excess irrigation water to the many lakes, thereby making it possible to reuse 30 to 35 percent of water used for irrigation.
The Kalhaar Blues & Greens campus includes a Golf Academy with a practice range, as well as chipping areas and putting greens that caters to beginners, amateurs and professional golfers. The project also features a pro shop offering apparel and accessories.
Located halfway between Ahmedabad and the TATA Nano plant this is a project which will spark more interest in the game of Golf in Ahmedabad & make Gujarat a popular travel destination for Golfers from across the country.
